Yola & Co. are unDone-Doneā¦
One of the things I see happen a lot, is the inability of teams to deliver the product they build as a āshippable productā. Due to this, there is a gap between what the Product Owner think is āacceptableā and what the development team is able to achieve to get things Done. So one of the questions I got is:āHow do we make a Definition of Done? Do you have an example?ā Beside that, Product Owners are wondering how they can get a feature-team while the rest of the company is organised as component-teams. Fortunately there is a way to cover both aspects with a simple visualisation practice. The two practices Iāll use in this blog are practices I learned from Bas Vodde during my LeSS Training. So lets dive into the case and answer the questions:
(Continu reading)Yola & Co. are refining Black Storiesā¦
It might sound weird to some of you but I play games with my teams during work. One of the most powerful games to use with a team is the Black Stories serie from author Holger Bƶsch and illustrator Bernhard Skopnik (The English version is also known as Dark Stories but those are from the same author and illustrator). There are good reasons to play games in the bossā time so lets see how games are used. Fortunately Jordann Gross and Eddy Bruin introduced me into this at Agile Coach Camp Nederland 2015.

In 2015 I posted this comic for the first time and it was my first post on agileblog.nl I did. At that time I wrote it (I drew it actually š) because I had the discussion over and over again. Fun thing is, it is still a story of my life. This time again, the discussion starts with: āWhat kind of tooling are we going to use?ā. So here it is, a repost with explanation this time.

Yola & Co. and The Phoenix Project Gameā¦
Along Agile, DevOps is really important right now when you take yourself seriously as an IT company. A lot of books are written on this topic but one of my favourites is The Phoenix Project written by Gene Kim, Kevin Behr and George Stafford. And now the DevOps world becomes even better, with a Dutch company called GamingWorks creating a game based on this marvellous book. Fortunately my employer is one of the companies helping GamingWorks by running tryouts of the game and I was lucky enough to attend one of those tryouts/train-the-trainer sessions. How awesome is that? Learning about DevOps while being a part of Parts Unlimited!

Sometimes you encounter situations or ideas that makes you wonder why this reflects perfectly on the Agile mindset.
(Continu reading)Yola & Co. used to do this in the pastā¦
Once in a while I encounter senior engineers, architects, designers, etc. who started their carreer before the 90s, telling me Agile is what they did in the past. Before they practiced Prince2, RUP, ITIL, CMMi and the waterfall approach. But were they really?

I really couldnāt wait before I could buy a ticket for the Agile Coach Camp Nederland 2016 edition. Last year was my first year I attended the conference and now I was waiting for the tickets to become available on Eventbrite.
(Continu reading)Yola & Co. and the pokering PO.
Once in a while I encounter teams that do poker planning and that includes the Product Owner or even Scrum Master. But that is not how it supposed to be!
